Hotel Adelphia 1913 Fancy Pedestal Silver EggcupHere is an outstanding 1913 very small and fancy silver plate side logo and bottom marked 2 ¾ tall by 2 ¼ wide (across the base) pedestal open salt or eggcup from the hotel adelphia that was located in philadelphia, pennsylvania. I believe that this eggcup was from the original order of silver plate for the hotel's opening in 1913. This pedestal server would have been used in the hotel's dining room, restaurant, or for room service in connection with the hotel's china and glass for table service. The adelphia hotel was completed in 1914 (designing was started in 1912) at the intersection of 13th and chestnut street in downtown philadelphia and was designed by the famous architect horace trumbauer. The adelphia was advertised (during this era) as one fo the best hotels in philly. It was a beautiful 20-story twin towered 400-room hotel that offered 4 restaurants. It also had a rooftop garden restaurant, a nightclub in the basement, and one of the most beautiful ballrooms (gilt trim, mirrors, a hardwood floor as smooth as ice) in philadelphia. Today, the building has became an apartment complex and is called the adelphia house. The server is marked on the side in the ornate a logo and is marked on the bottom hotel adelphia phildelphia. It was amde by the gorham silver co. (has the gmco markings), is silver soldered, hsa the 1913 date mark, and looks wonderful. It overall excellent condition with hardly any wear or usage. It possibly was also made to have a small glass insert, but i cannot confirm this. This is not a souvenir rather, it is the heavyweight type railroad, steamship, and lunch counter silverplate. A wonderful addition to your philadelphia, adelphia hotel, ice cream dish, or hotel silver collection and it has been properly cleaned and is ready to be displayed. The digital images do not show the original silver item that well. uByer to prepay item along with $6.99 which includes shipping, packing, and handling in the united states.
